Parklane Employee Incident Reporting

In the month of March we introduced an electronic employee incident reporting process to replace the paper-based incident reporting system to an electronic reporting process. This is somewhat similar to, but different than, RiskPro. RiskPro is for events involving patients, visitors and HR-related respectful workplace issues. The new online system (Parklane) is for events involving an employee, including hazardous situations (including potentially violent respectful workplace issues directed towards an employee)

Paper employee incident reports, are available for “downtime” use and for students/ contractors. Volunteers have a separate form.

Feedback from those who have used it and our own metrics has proven to be an easier and more efficient method of reporting and investigating incidents. In the first couple months of use, it has dropped the average time to report and investigate down from 12.8 days to 3.5 days. In fact, in some cases an incident has occurred, been reported, investigated by the group leader and corrective actions identified in less than 60 minutes! This ability to focus on corrective actions in a timely manner results in a safer workplace for all employees, students and medical staff
